Eris will look at the ancient Greek goddess of Strife, exploring what we understand Eris to signify, evidenced in the names of her children; Murder, Ruin, Hunger and Misery. Eris, like NYX, is a film about a family of words, and how their lexical organisation addresses a system of experience. Based on a real life story of a close friend and influenced by the R&B music video 'epic' genre, Eris will use a narrative basis to challenge the limits and connections wrought by the Greek's in their theogony.
Eris, a sequel to Claire Hooper's 2010 film NYX, is being produced in collaboration with FLAMIN (London) and Lighthouse (Brighton), at Picture This.
Claire Hooper is an award winning artist working predominantly with film and video. Her latest film Eris will debut at the Museum of Modern Art in Vienna. Eris will have it’s UK debut at Picture This Bristol in early 2012 and is intended to be screened internationally at film festivals and galleries.
