In 2003 Michael Curran was commissioned to produce the second project in Picture This' Historic Sites series.
"As a maker, a faker, an author, an artist, however we want to term it, I don't know what will come next. Fearful as it is, something in this uncertainty excites me. The image, moving or otherwise is in jeopardy - a great and dangerous place to be. What is certain is that human consciousness is radically changing and the seeds of this evolution can be detected everywhere and in everyone. There is no choice but to open out to such awakening for to refuse is to atrophy and die."
His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Rotterdam Film Festival and Video Positive, Liverpool and is in the collection of Centre Georges Pompidou and Artothek Vienna. Curran has taken part in festivals and group exhibitions across the UK including Tate Britain, London; and Camden Arts Centre, London. Solo exhibitions include Matt's Gallery, London; and Arnolfini, Bristol.
